The Transitions Network’s Pillars

The Transitions Network (TNN) has found that there is very little guidance available for people that are nearing retirement or that have recently retired on how to move on into the next chapter of their lives. The little that is available is focused on Financial Planning for retirement or looking for retirement homes. But the vast majority of people already have their own homes and have been dealing with financial planning for a long time.
To that end, TNN focuses on 7 Pillars:
- Retirement & Entrepreneurship – many people aren’t quite ready to give up on working or may need to continue to generate an income.
- Identity & Emotional Reinvention – For the vast majority of our adult lives, we’ve been tied to our careers to the point that we identify as our job. So how do we deal with moving past that?
- Global Retirement Perspectives – Often, we will think about moving to a different location. What are some of the things we have to think about?
- Technology for Retirees – And we’re not talking about AI. We’re talking about technologies that we may need. Blood pressure monitors, applications focused on Retirees, wearable health technologies, etc.
- Healthspan vs Lifespan – Living longer doesn’t necessarily mean living healthier or living a more self-fullfilling life. How to we ensure we continue to live in a healthy way?
- Couples & Family Dynamics – One partner typically has worked away from home but all of a sudden both are in the household. How does that change the couple dynamic? Or you have adult children but also have to take care of an elderly parent. Your family dynamics will change and you need to consider this.
- Retirement & Volunteering – Just as some people want to continue working and look for a side hustle, others may want to focus on volunteering with their favorite charity. What should you think about when volunteering?
